Enter a complete rental quote, including selected insurance and required extras. Refundable deposits are excluded. Taxes differ by location; this model applies your single tax rate to hire charges, entered fees and excess distance, but not fuel.

The method, not a mystery.

Own-car cost includes fuel, an entered wear allowance per distance unit, and entered trip-specific costs. Rental cost includes fuel, chargeable days, daily rate, entered fees, excess distance and the selected tax basis. Fixed annual ownership costs are not allocated automatically.

Own car = fuel + distance × wear allowance + other trip costs. Rental = fuel + days × rate + fees + excess distance charge + entered tax.

Before you go

Is wear a cash payment?

Not necessarily. It is your allowance for distance-related wear or depreciation, rather than a bill calculated from a vehicle valuation database.

Are deposits included?

No. Refundable deposits are not trip costs in this model, but you still need to check available funds and the rental provider’s terms.

Does a cheaper result mean a better car?

No. Suitability, safety, comfort, breakdown arrangements, contract restrictions and vehicle condition need separate consideration.
